I LITERALLY HATE BSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was walking my dogs yesterday as since Ozzy is currently working on his trust issues with men (He is much better now, just if there is a male jogger or a male going faster than walking pace he is a bit more warey)
I was with several of my guy friends to help him get used to joggers and strange men in general. One of the guys has a rescued apbt x ? who is serverly under socilaized so he brought him along to start his rehabiltaion.
This man comes charging over and starts hurling abuse about our dogs, the apbts and abpt cross mainly. He left the BCD, Lab and Spaniel alone(Who are also rescue dogs with issues such as aggression ect - Me and my friends help dogs at the SPCA with behaviour issues to give them a better chance of being rehomed)
He was saying stuff like: "Those dogs should be culled" "Shot on sight" "Muzzled and chained in the yard" "No use to society" - So naturally I defended my breed and asked if he knew that apbts were used as S&R dogs, guide dogs, police dogs, only rich people used to own them as baby sitters for thier kids ect. And his reply: "Aren't you confusing that with Labs?"
He also phone the police and said we had vivious dogs running around near kids (we had kids with us, all the dogs were find with kids. The dog that had aggression was just aggressive with other dogs and some elderly men) Of course the police came running over and now we have to PROVE that our dogs aren't aggressive/risk to people!!
I'm worried now, since they have to be tested - and Ozzy still isn't over his issue, nor will he be when he goes to be examined, if anything he will get worse! In a metal cage for 14 days - unknown enviorment, unknown people and MEN!! I'm scared now that since he will most likely become scared and revert back to how he was, he wouldn't let my dad approach him when we adopted him for at least 3 days. They won't give him 3 days. The first time he shows a hint of aggression he will be PTS. Milo and Sara will be fine.
Ozzy hasn't bitten before, but urgh!!! That stupid man is going to *possibly* have my dog, who just got a happy home after being starved, abandoned and living in his own feces..... He's just found out what live + love is and he might be PTS without his family there!
They didn't take the other dogs, because surprise, surprise the media/law doesn't care about other aggressive dogs. They even said it.
If you're not from America - Then basically 90% of dog bites are labelled as "pit bulls" - Now, pitbull is NOT a breed but a group made of different dogs, you say pitbull, people think American Pitbull Terrier. Any dog that looks like a apbt during a bite incident is a "pitbull" - A labrador was called a "pitbull" - Apprently a pug even shares the same characteristics.... A PUG?! Now, if the breed is unknown and shares no similarities to any pit/bully breeds then they just say "dog attacks ..." Some years ago there was a women who was mauled by a Labrador, the media said this "A DOG attacks women" There was a picture of the dog, description - but they NEVER said the breed. Surely they know what a Labrador looks like?
Sorry for the rant, but I can't even go see my dogs for 14 days and only 2 might be coming home..!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a sick man!!!! he should of known better than to do that my staff has had aggressive problems but she is fine now and if anything I trust her more than I would my terrier I remember this woman at the park had a yell at em to walk the other way because of my staff and then she picked up her kids and left but one kid had a ball in his and and my terrier (Zulu) was straight on the case he went to go bite the child but I was sure there before he could. this is a little bit of proof its not the breeds fault and I feel really bad for you from hearing about this I hope you can get things sorted

Thanks, but that is just how people are. When we first got Milo, a puppy. People would give me abuse as well. A PUPPY that can be molded to however you want. People see a chance to labell, they do.
I'm no where near saying that all pit/bully breeds or any breed is well socialized or trained, because not all are. But urgh,. I hope all 3 come home!
The worst is that if Ozzy fails, then I won't even be able to see him! This happened to my neighbour, they asked for their dogs ashes - They never got them, its been 2 years. (Their dog was friendly, but before they moved next to me people hated their dog for his breed and *finally* got him PTS...)
